The D3 is an original car created based on the BMW 3 series. It is the most compact Alpina model in terms of size. The body itself is the same as that of the 3 series, and it bears the BMW emblem, but the powertrain was designed separately, and the aero parts with large “ALPINA” letters, the decorative lines on the sides of the body, and the characteristic 19-inch wheels show that it is different from the 3 series. It is the world’s fastest diesel engine for a four-door limousine in mass production at this time.
Body colors include Alpina Blue, Alpina Green, all the colors of the 3 Series, other series, and discontinued colors may also be selected (optional except for standard solid colors). For the interior, Alpina’s exclusive wood “elm” is used as the standard wood, but piano black, carbon-like, or body color can be selected as options. Standard are combination leather seats (two colors, three types). The optional leather seats come in three types: Dakota leather (five colors, nine types), Merino leather (five colors), and Alpina leather (Lavarina leather) (15 colors).
