BMW/ALPINA D10 BITURBO
The Alpina D10 is a vehicle from Alpina Burkard Bovensiepen. It is their first vehicle with a diesel engine. The D10 was built from April 2000 to October 2003 on the basis of the BMW E39 as a sedan as well as an estate (“Touring”). A total of 239 examples were produced.
Appearance and technology
Externally, the D10 resembles the E39-based Alpina vehicles with gasoline engines. It has 18-inch wheels (19 inches on request) with Michelin Pilot tires measuring 235/40 at the front and 265/35 at the rear. The front apron, standard on the E39, was swapped and a tear-off edge at the rear was available as an option on the sedans. The interior was rebuilt.
The E39’s 2.9-liter M57 engine was extensively modified, with the addition of two parallel turbochargers with adjustable guide vanes, a Behr intercooler, different light-alloy pistons and a Bosch common-rail injection system with a system pressure of up to 160 MPa. Power was thus increased from 135 kW to 180 kW. Two transmissions were offered, a manual Getrag six-speed or a five-speed converter transmission from ZF.
